Cut Your Own Christmas Tree, Christmas Trees are renewable

    

  ' Tis the season' to cut your own Christmas Tree. This mother and daughter team cut down a beautifully shaped Fraser Fir Tree at Justamere Tree Farm in Worthington, MA. We have a wide selection of Fraser and Balsam Fir Trees with a few Blue Spruce and Concolor mixed in. We shear our trees every year which gives them all a great shape for your Holiday liking!

Maple Recipes For The Holidays Or Anytime

Maple Walnut Pie instead of Traditional Pecan Pie

• 1 unbaked 9 inch pie shell
• 4 large eggs
• 3/4 cup Maple Syrup (dark amber or grade B from Justamere)
• a few squirts fresh lemon juice
• dash of cinnamon
• 1/4 cup melted butter
• 1/2 tsp. vanilla
• 1/2 tsp. Salt
• 2 cups walnut pieces

1. Preheat oven 375 degrees.
2. Beat together everything except walnuts. You can use a blender, wire whisk, or electric mixer. Beat until light and smooth.
3. Spread walnuts into unbaked crust and pour batter over nuts.
4. Bake 30 minutes or until solid. Serve warm or cold with ice cream or whip cream sweetened with Maple syrup. Yum!
   

Maple Glazed Ham ( I have not tried this but it sounded good!)

1. (12-14 lb.) fully cooked ham
2. Whole cloves ( a few )
3. 3 T. Dijon Mustard
3. 1/4 cup  Justamere's Maple Syrup

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Insert cloves into ham. Mix mustard and Maple Syrup together into a bowl. Pour syrup mixture onto ham and spread evenly. Bake 1 1/2 hours or 10 minutes/per lb.

    About 5 years ago the T.V. crew, and a producer from WGBY in Springfield, Ma., came to Justamere Tree Farm to film J.P. and I on our farm.

Cutting Brush, Christmas Trees at Justamere Tree Farm

     Today we shifted gears and cut the tips of Balsam Fir Trees. I will use them in making wreaths for the Holidays. We were in a forest of overgrown Fir trees with a ground cover of moss. The moss was so thick and lofty, it made you wonder how it could feel to lie upon. I'm sure the deer love it.
    Valerie and I spent the day cutting tips and filling our barrels with greenery. The forest was very still with hardly a chirp in the air. We did hear several trains off in the distance, wondering where they were heading and where they had been.
    We begin selling Christmas Trees at Justamere Tree Farm the first week-end following Thanksgiving.
